The Rogue's Gallery Vol. 2 Mixtape Cover
Originally released December 2013

The first Rogue's Gallery was a New York story. The second one was bigger than that. With Vol. 2, we took the mixtape series national, pulling talent from California, St. Louis, and everywhere in between. The mission stayed the same: put on artists who deserve to be heard, mix it right, and let the music do the talking. But this time, the reach was wider and the sound was more diverse.

Executive produced by Diony C. and Olivar D., mixed by DJ Clear, and once again featuring production from X: The Shining for Remasterz, Vol. 2 proved that the Rogue's Gallery concept had legs. It wasn't just a local thing anymore. It was a movement.

Eighteen tracks deep, the tape brought together artists who were doing things their own way. Farrah Burns from Brooklyn brought lyrical precision. Bo Dean represented St. Louis with raw energy. Mala Reignz held it down for the Bronx. Reverie flew in from L.A. with a West Coast perspective. King Jul delivered bars over beats. And Za Village brought a collective energy that rounded the whole project out.

Going National

Vol. 1 was rooted in the boroughs. Vol. 2 dared to stretch the map. We wanted to show that the Rogue's Gallery spirit wasn't limited to one zip code. Hip-hop has always been a culture that travels, and this tape reflected that. Reverie brought L.A. grit. Bo Dean brought Midwest hunger. The New York contingent showed up deeper than ever with Mala Reignz, illa Ghee, Chief Justice, and Qui all returning.

The production expanded too. X: The Shining handled multiple beats through Remasterz, but we also brought in Figub Brazlevic, DJ QUALY, Jaae Kash, Beatnick & K-Salaam, and J30. Each producer brought a different texture, and DJ Clear stitched it all together into something that felt unified despite the diversity.

Where Are They Now?

Farrah Burns (now Farrah Boule Burns) continues to push boundaries. The Haitian-Cuban MC from Brooklyn won the Underground Music Awards for Best Female Rapper with her album Oval Metal and went on to create seven distinct rap personas for her project "The 7th Element." She's now a cultural architect, founding Tribal Hop, an ecosystem of healing arts that blends hip-hop with wellness.

Bo Dean became one of St. Louis's most respected voices. He won Best Male Hip Hop Artist of the Year at the 2014 Slum Fest Awards and has opened for Cam'ron, DMX, Nipsey Hussle, and Rakim. Beyond music, he's an assistant principal, proving that hip-hop and education don't have to be separate worlds. He and T-Dubb-O launched Audacity Music Group together.

Mala Reignz made history as the first solo female rapper of Latino descent to be named "Unsigned Hype" by The Source Magazine. She appeared on MTV's RapFixLive alongside Killer Mike, who told her that her track "Make You Smile" belonged on the radio. She went on to co-own the indie label ScholarVMG and the Bad Girl Chainz accessory line, and recently became a member of the legendary band Stetsasonic.

Reverie took her L.A. underground roots worldwide, touring across 28 countries and 37 states. She's released 15 albums and built a fiercely loyal fanbase through YouTube and SoundCloud. A Latina MC from Los Angeles who visualizes the contrasting sides of being a Latino American through her art, she's proof that independence and longevity can coexist.

Cory Mo is a Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum producer from Houston, Texas. A member of the UGK family, he's produced for 2 Chainz, TLC, CeeLo Green, Big Boi, Gucci Mane, Killer Mike, and Talib Kweli. He and his brother built M.A.D. Studios in Houston and later expanded to Atlanta. His track "It's All Over" on this tape, produced by Beatnick & K-Salaam, showed his range as an artist in front of the mic too.

Block Brothas (E-Jay and J.Smiles) came straight out of Harlem with raw energy and street anthems. Their track "Turn Up" brought that uptown grit to Vol. 2, and they built a following through Block Brothas Nation Entertainment.

Artists like King Jul, Za Village, Steis, and Charlie Cruz represent the wider network of talent that Vol. 2 connected. Not every artist from that era stayed in the spotlight, but every one of them contributed to something that mattered. The Rogue's Gallery Vol. 2 proved that great music doesn't need a major label. It just needs the right platform.
