Timelesz, born Jason Lee King, wrote his first rhyme at age 10. He began developing and demonstrating his skill in the seventh grade and was known around the school for being miles ahead of the rest of the kids. He was already beginning to stand out many around the way used to say. The teachers even took to his rapping, making sure on his behalf that he was included in school events. This lead to Boogs booking performances at recreation centers, contests and clubs. Though he was incarcerated at the young age of 18, his dream of sharing his talents with the world never died. Now at age 35 he has written, recorded, and performed some dope material well worth listening to. On a hot summer day in 2016 we had a chance to catch up with him and it went like this.
1. How did you come up with the name Timelesz?
A Rap Group gave me the name.
2. We know you got locked up at the age of 18. Can you tell us what happened to lead to those circumstances and when you got out?
It was a bizarre situation between the mothers of my children and I. I was released at age 23.
3. When you were in Prison did you work on your craft or was that the farthest thing from your mind?
That was one of the most things I always did.
4. One of our favorite songs on the Spitfire mixtape vol 3 (Hosted by Ras Kass) was your track for “Hood Love”. That track was so vivid and we pictured everything you said. What was the inspiration for that joint?
Thank You for the love, my inspiration was my Love for the Hood, my Love for the People in the Hood, my experiences in the Hood and of course HipHop.
