1. Jesse what’s good, how’s things your way?
Man I been blessed. I can’t complain. Jus tryna take over the world one day at a time.
2. You have an impressive resume. What was it like working with a legend like E40 and other notable artists like Yukmouth, Jim Jones and more?
Well the E-40 situation came about like 10 years ago maybe even longer. But my guy Paul Silva which is a producer that i was workin wit at the time said his twin brother John Silva had E-40 in the lab doin a feature for Gary Payton’s nephew and he wanted me on the song. So we went over there and him and B-Legit was at the table drinkin carlos rossi and playin dominos for push ups they both real coo dudes. But yeah so we chopped it for a minute then I hit the booth and the rest was history. Far as Yukmouth I been knowin him for years him and C-bo used to come to my patna Montrae’s grandma’s house which was Big Ikey’s (C-bo’s manager) mom’s house back in the day. But that was another move my guys Paul & John Silva made possible. And far as Jim Jones that was a move my bro Kuddie Fresh put together and had me hop on a song wit Jimmy. They were all dope experiences.
3. Let’s talk Seattle Hip Hop. For those that don’t know about it, they associate it with pop infused Macklemore sounding records. How would you describe the scene out there and the sound in 2016?
I’d say there’s definitely way more to here then jus Macklemore and Sir Mix a lot. S/o to them tho for doin they thang. But yeah I still think we have yet to see even half of what the Puget Sound has to offer. I know so many dope artists from here that i feel like should be in the game. The thing is we’re like a melting pot up here. We got all kinda different sounds. But I guarantee u when we come we gon set the game on fire and we’ll be here to stay. Buhleedat!!!
4. Let’s talk about your Cream Team movement. For clarity what services do you guys provibe and what’s the main goal for this outfit?
Well as of now Cream Team consists of me and my bro Bari Bux. We provide dope ass music of course as well as artist development, songwriting, videography, photography, and graphic design. Man we jus tryna give da game a breath of fresh air and feed our families thats all.
5. We know Pac was a huge inspiration of yours. What is your favorite album from him?
Shit all of em.. lol. Nah but I’d prolly have to say “All Eyez On Me”, but it’s tough tho cuz I fuck wit that “Don Killuminati” too. But if I gotta pick 1 I’d say ” All Eyez On Me ” plus it had hella songs. Cant never have too much Pac. (Laughs)
6. What do you think about the new “All Eyez On Me” movie that is going to drop in 2017?
Man they need to hurry up and put that shit out. I thought it was posed to be out by now. I been said they shoulda made a movie bout Pac. I think it’ll be better than any bio pic that has came out. Jus cuz Pac’s like was like a movie. Niggas be sayin they life is like a movie, but that niggas shit was REALLY like a movie.
7. Back to you, your single and video for “Addicted” was dope as hell! How did that record come about and are you happy with the response thus far?
Preciate that. I try i try.. lol. But yeah thats a song from my album “Supernova” set to drop Summer of 2017. Huey P’s one of good homies as well as 1 of the dopest artist in my city so it was only right to do a joint wit him. The response has been great tho. They be goin crazy when when we perform that shit. And s/o to my guy Dyllyn Greenwood for the visual too. He did his thang on that joint.
8. You got a lethal flow in a lot of the records we heard from you. Do you feel like you reached your prime or is Jesse James still growing as an artist?
Man u know its crazy cuz i’ve thought I reached my prime a couple times until I make another song. Seems like I jus keep gettin better and better. I feel like sky’s the limit far as gettin better. I believe I wont fully reach my potential til somebody put some racks in my pocket and be like jus sit in the studio all day and make hits. Then ppl are really gonna see what Jesse James can do. And I believe that moments comin soon. Very soon!!!
9. You have a really big project, “Neva Enuff”, that’s slated to drop soon with production from Kevin Miller. Can you tell us the release on this and where are readers can check it out?
Yeah that joint go crazy. My guy Dj Equis jus played it at the Lil Yase & Yatta show i just hosted and the response was crazy. I had niggas comin up to me allnight talkin bout the song. So i cant wait to release it. It’ll be on iTunes on 12/20/16 so be sure to go check it out. S/o to my guy Swisher Sleep too. He snapped on dat thang.
10. We chopped it up with Kevin Miller on a few occasions and he was a really cool dude to vibe with. How long have you been working with him and what are the studio vibes like between you guys?
Me and Kevin met through my guy Dj Equis a lil bit after I got out of jail. I was stuck at the house on house arrest and he brought him through one day for us to chop it up. And we instantly connected and been workin since then. He’s definitely a coo dude wit great energy. And its a pleasure workin wit him
11. Give us a sneak peak into “Neva Enuff”. What can we expect and how will this differ from “Addicted”??
They’re kinda similar for the fact that its kinda hard to tell if they’re singles or not. But when u play em in the club they give u that vibe like its a hit. Which they both are hits but i think the flows is a lil more crazy on “Neva Enuf” ppl are gonna love it tho. Satisfaction guaranteed. (Laughs)
12. Before we skate out of here, what’s on the agenda for Jesse James for 2017?
Shit the way muafuckas is dyin left and right my agenda is to be alive and take care of my family. But far as music goes i plan on makin my mark. Not only in my city but nationwide, and i promise when i get in the game imma shake it up. Imma very humble person but im very self aware, confident, and i know what im capable of of. So whoever considers themself to have that top spot im comin for it. Period!!!
