In 2006, MICK (formerly Mick Boogie) got Eminem and The Alchemist to host The Pre-Up, a promo tape ahead of The Re-Up. Hear it free.
Eminem and The Alchemist hosting the same mixtape is reason enough to press play.
In 2006, with Shady Records preparing Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, MICK (formerly Mick Boogie) presented a promo tape to run ahead of it, hosted by Eminem and The Alchemist. The Re-Up arrived that December. The Pre-Up turns 20 this November.
The tracklist is a snapshot of the Shady circle at the time. Eminem, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Cashis trade verses on “You Don’t Know.” Eminem and Dr. Dre share “Still On Top” in a MICK mix, and Stat Quo and Lil Wayne team up on a MICK mix of “Get Low.” Bobby Creekwater, Cashis, and D12’s Kuniva each get their own spots, and Bizarre and Obie Trice pop up too. Proof, the D12 member who died earlier that year, appears on an interlude and on “One Way or Another.”
Prodigy and The Alchemist link up on “Mac 10 Handles” and “This Is America,” and Eminem produced the second one. Between songs, Eminem introduces MICK, Alchemist talks about Em, and Eminem clowns around about the tape.

The Alchemist’s fingerprints are all over our shelves too. He produced Larry June and 2 Chainz’s Life Is Beautiful, and he’s on two recent CDs in the shop. Prodigy, half of Mobb Deep, is on two songs here, and The Infamous is in the shop as well.
If MICK’s name sounds familiar, it should. He’s also the DJ behind the Dillagence tape on this site, Busta Rhymes rapping over unreleased J Dilla beats. He was billed as Mick Boogie then and goes by MICK now, and you can read how he dropped “DJ” and “Boogie” from his name in our Collector Spotlight. Read our Collector Spotlight on MICK.
