After Attention Deficit stalled, Wale came back with a Seinfeld sequel, DJ Omega on the mix, and 100,000 downloads in three hours. Now in the archive.

By the summer of 2010, Wale had a problem and he knew it.
Attention Deficit, his debut album, had arrived in 2009 with real buzz behind it and a Lady Gaga feature on “Chillin.” It did not live up to the hype. The D.C. rapper who had built his name on mixtapes was suddenly a major label question mark, and the people who had followed him from The Mixtape About Nothing were still waiting to hear him sound like himself again.
So he did the one thing that had always worked. He went back to Seinfeld.
On Tuesday, August 3, 2010, More About Nothing hit the internet as a free download, mixed by DJ Omega. Wale tweeted through the whole thing as servers buckled and mirror links multiplied. The tape pulled in 100,000 downloads in its first three hours and was trending worldwide on Twitter before it even landed.

The Album Problem, Addressed Up Front
Wale did not dodge it. The tape opens with “The Problem,” a track that takes on the question of why Attention Deficit did not connect the way everyone expected. It is the rare sequel that starts by admitting the last chapter did not go to plan.
That honesty is part of why the tape worked. The first About Nothing was a breakout. This one was a response, a rapper using the format that made him to answer the album that did not.
Twenty-One Tracks, One Sitcom
The concept carries over from 2008. Seinfeld clips stitch the tracks together, the cover redraws his name in the Seinfeld logo and lines five figures up with their backs to the camera, and nearly every title on the back cover starts with “The,” keeping the joke running: “The Soup,” “The Breeze,” “The War,” “The Posse Cut,” “The Power.” “The Soup” folds the Soup Nazi into its chorus. “The Black N Gold” features Sam Sparro.
The guest list is a full cast. Wiz Khalifa and Tré of UCB turn up on “The Breeze,” Daniel Merriweather on “The War,” Fat Trel and Black Cobain on “The Posse Cut,” Waka Flocka Flame with Roscoe Dash on “The Guilty Pleasure,” Tiara Thomas on “The Cloud,” Avery Storm on “The Power,” and Dre from Cool & Dre on “The Motivation.”
The credits read like a crew rather than a producer list: Kosmik, Mark Henry, Bassheads, Best Kept Secret, Osinachi, Drumma Boy on the Waka Flocka record, and Cool & Dre on “The Motivation,” with DJ Omega himself on the boards.
Critics split the way you would expect. Some heard a tighter, better-packaged follow-up than the first tape. Others felt the TV clips occasionally broke the momentum of the heavier records. Both takes are fair. Together they describe a tape that was trying to be funny and serious at the same time, which is exactly what made the first one stick.
DJ Omega
DJ Omega mixed More About Nothing, put his name on the cover, and co-produced three of its records with Kosmik: the opener “The Problem,” “The Black N Gold,” and “The Trip.” He stayed in Wale’s corner long after the tape. When Jerry Seinfeld later described how The Album About Nothing came together, he said the call that brought him into the studio came from Wale and DJ Omega.
That is the part of the mixtape story that rarely gets told. The DJ on the cover is not just a name on the credit line. Sometimes the DJ is the person helping carry a concept from a free download all the way to a sitcom legend’s phone.
What Came After
Wale joined Maybach Music Group and released Ambition in 2011. The Seinfeld idea waited four more years, then came back as The Album About Nothing on March 31, 2015, with Jerry Seinfeld himself on the project. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and went Gold.
More About Nothing took longer to get an official home. Getting it onto streaming meant clearing the samples, and in 2022, twelve years after it dropped, Wale said Seinfeld made the calls to get it done. The tape reached streaming services on April 29. Every Blue Moon followed with a CD in July and a double vinyl pressing that December.
The official release is a cleared version with a different track list that leaves out the original’s opener, “The Problem.” The original 21-track tape is the one that spread blog by blog and download by download, the one that answered a stumble with a sequel. That is the version in the archive player.

More About Nothing sits in the same lane as the other collector tapes here. For another tape built around a DJ and a vault of work that scattered, Dillagence is the place to go next.
