By 2016, Conway The Machine had spent years building Griselda from the ground up with Westside Gunn and Benny The Butcher, Buffalo rappers nobody outside a small circle of obsessives had heard of yet. Prodigy had spent over two decades as one half of Mobb Deep, one of the most feared and respected duos New York ever produced. When the two linked up for a two-track EP, produced entirely by Daringer, they didn’t pick a neutral title. They called it Hell Still On Earth, a direct nod to Mobb Deep’s own Hell On Earth, the 1996 album that doubled down on everything The Infamous had already proven about Queensbridge.
The title wasn’t a coincidence. It was a passing of something.

What’s On It
Two tracks, both produced by Daringer, released free in September 2016. This isn’t a split EP where each artist takes a solo cut, Conway and Prodigy trade verses across both records. Rodney Little opens it, ten minutes built on the same bleak, minimal production style Daringer would go on to define across the entire early Griselda catalog. Broken Safety closes it out, five more minutes of the same two voices in the same room.
There’s no hook chasing here, no attempt to modernize either artist’s sound to fit the other. It’s two generations of the same tradition, standing next to each other and proving it.
Why This EP Lives Here
Hell Still On Earth was never given an official commercial release. No vinyl, no CD pressing, nothing you could buy then or now. It exists exactly the way the free-tape era made things exist, released once, into the world, and left there. That’s exactly why it belongs in this archive’s native player rather than anywhere else.
Prodigy passed away in June 2017, less than a year after this EP dropped. Hell Still On Earth wasn’t planned as a farewell, it’s just two artists making a record together because the chemistry was real. But it’s one of the last documented moments of Prodigy on wax before hip-hop lost him, and that gives it a weight the two tracks alone don’t fully carry.

Daringer’s fingerprints run all over this EP, and they run all over Conway’s catalog since. Blakk Tape, his 2018 solo mixtape reissued on vinyl, was produced almost entirely by the same hand. If Hell Still On Earth is where that partnership started showing its range, Blakk Tape is where it fully arrived. And the album this EP borrowed its name from is sitting right in the archive too.
